As I sit here watching the extended version of “Lord of the Rings”, it’s got me thinking about burdens, and generational curses.
The ring itself was a huge burden on Bilbo Baggins for years of his life. He became erratic, and paranoid. He lived a miserable cursed life, yet he still tried so hard to hang on to the burden weighing him down. When he was not able to destroy the cursed ring, he passed it down to Frodo. Which kind of reminded me of generational curses. Someone has to break the chain. It doesn’t feel fair. Why must I be cursed because someone in my family opened a door that they should’ve left closed? Why does this curse become my burden to bear? Why am I assigned the task that they should’ve completed? I don’t know. I honestly have no clue. What I do know is Adonai is my source. If I trust in Adonai I will have everything I need to break the curses, which will relieve me of the burdens that have been passed down to me. Minus the servant aspect, Adonai reminds me of Samwise Gamgee. Adonai always has our backs, even when we allow our cursed burdens to affect our better judgement.
Just some LoOpy thoughts.

P.S. when you think about it the first time Frodo puts on that ring, even though it was not on purpose. It’s like the first time you truly feel the burden of the curse that you’ve inherited.
